It was refreshing to hear a director back his department. He paid for his own travel expenses from Texas and was polite and upfront with his comments. He was not disrespectful and the mayor had cleared him to speak.
Mr. Szerlag definitely has a Napoleon complex combined with a giant ego. Whatever happened to "freedom of speech"? Since Szerlag's return Troy has gotten one black eye after another.
It's time for the council to stop allowing themselves to be bullied and call Szerlag on showcasing his supposed "power". The people of the city are becoming more and more disenchanted.
Council and Madam Mayor you need to take a stand and let Mr. Szerlag know he works for you - that you are not his puppets!
Z-man showed no respect for one of TROY's employees that questioned the godman Z-man. America was built on open Frank Talk,but the Z-man,the Destroyer of TROY shows he can rip the Analhole of anyone thaT QUESTIONS Troy'S DIRECTION.
Solution 17; there r many types of Chamber of commences ,Troy's pro-business screw everything else.and internation concerns,anti-TROY city Actions,inside the TROY chamber of commence,are around 500-550 smaller TROY businesses,,party stores,small law firms and etc.,these pay about 500-1000$ for membership,I have NOT the skills, but if some one could organize a Chamber 4 TROY's smaller business concerns,,FUNDing from these smaller companies.fees could be half the fee 4 the TROY's CHamber 500 x ==?????.might be able help Business and TROY before others,and could be FORMed.
I worked at 4 differ General Motors plants,3 differ states, as the Plants were down sized,,many of those people retrained or started up something,and those that stayed their pay checks got smaller,and added work loads,
Back to forming a TROY protector, a city chamber as in clawson does OK.maybe an/a neighbor assocites could also join .
'Taking the high road’
The City of Sunny Isles Beach and former City Manager John Szerlag have agreed to part ways amicably. Following Szerlag’s resignation, Public Works Director Rick Conner has been appointed interim City Manager. For the next few months, Szerlag will serve as a consultant to the city, available to provide assistance with capital projects.
The City Commission also recently reversed its position on installing cameras at Collins Avenue intersections to catch red light runners after being advised the state of Florida bans traffic cameras on state property. Considering the option of receiving permission from private property owners to install cameras on their land, the Commission agreed that despite the potential revenue, installation of camera poles would be too unsightly.

I was beginning to think that we had lost the freedom of speech. It's amazing to me how the City Mgr and administration can limit one of the freedoms that our country was founded on.
In some depts, staff is told to tell their managers if they are expressing questions or issues before sent - even if written at home and not related to their jobs.
In witnessing some of these events, it looks as if Troy not only has financial and communication problems but honesty ones as well.
The city seems to have more "leaders with delusions of grandeur" and not enough leaders concerned with the truth and listening to the residents.
Wake up - get rid of weak, poor, and over their heads directors. Some talk the talk
but it is obvious that they cannot walk the walk to save the city!
I 'think" the UNIONs of TROY are the CITy's,,even 1967-70 the students of TROY HIGH would stand up,and close the school for that DAY.
NOW,,the student demand all their parents MONEY,,as taught by NO PRIDE $100K PUBLIC teachers in TROY.
When TROY built TROY HIGH,,mainly in secert,,then cried it needed more TAX money,,"to build what was BUILT" TROY was exposed as a SUPER-RICH to tax haven to bilk tax money for many more lose-ing projects after that,,but the people on "TROY's'leadership groups are Richer and TROY's tax base is BROKE.
